So well, I - Anna Heimrath aka AnJosef - first appeared on the music scene outside of Austria in 2017, when I became a contestant in the TV show "The Voice of Germany" and came out in third place. In 2018 I founded my solo project "AnJosef". Under this name I released my first single "HIDE & SEEK" together with WELOVESTOCKHOLM in December 2018, which reached over 1 million streams.
After my debut single - which had made it into the Top 10 Airplay Charts right away - I released my follow-up single "Petit Voyage". I wrote the song after a trip to Paris. For me it combines a tender and fragile side of my voice with a more powerful and dynamic chorus - featuring an undeniably catchy hook you can hardly get rid of. The song encaptures this unique summer feeling you have exploring a new city that you will remember your whole life.
So go check out the feelings I had on the trip!
Kicking off something completely different, mainly to blow off steam, I started to write two songs for a project with the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, supported by Hannes Gill and Greta Zaar. "Fav Colour" and "Personal Romeo" gave me a new but also well-known kind of style and the opportunity to perform live with an orchestra again.
Looking back - this was when I found myself again and the way I want to sound and write.
I truly believe I combine everything that defines an artist in this fast-paced modern times: talent, playfulness, curiosity to think outside the box, the ability to change and the courage to reinvent oneself as an artist every day.
This is precisely why in 2020 I released an album in German. I suppose, as an artist I can do whatever I want to - as long as it expresses my current feelings and views on life. Being in my early twenties I try not to be too hard on myself and dare to go wherever my creativity leads me. I don't have any plans to stop soon, so I wanna make the most of every phase I am in. As long as I am being true to myself, I'm fine with it. And I am sure the audience will appreciate.
On the album, I invite the audience into my living-room, provide insights into my private life and I sing about all what moved me in 2019.
So let's see what happens next!
